The Punta Cana International Airport among the top three terminals in the region
SANTO DOMINGO. The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) was chosen among the top three in the Latin America and Caribbean region for the «Airport Service Quality (ASQ)» award, in the category of up to two million passengers per year, Grupo Punta Cana, through a press release.
The award was given by the International Airports Council (ACI). This includes airports around the world, of which 17 are from Latin America and the Caribbean. Participants were evaluated through the opinion of the passengers taking into account 34 key indicators on quality in the administration and in the provision of services.
In the note, the Group noted that the PUJ currently receives more than 60% of all flights and passengers arriving in the country, so last year it mobilized 3, 187,749 foreigners. They also highlighted that in the last five years, the terminal has registered a sustained increase of more than 7%.
«This recognition reaffirms our commitment to have the best airport infrastructure in the Caribbean,» said Frank Rainieri, vice president of Grupo Puntacana.
As proof of this, they cited the constant remodeling that the airport has undergone, among which they emphasized that, in May of 2015 the PUJ obtained the prequalification to operate flights of the United States as if it were a domestic terminal, for which Installed a migration hall and customs of the United States in the facilities of the airport. They also noted that the airport has adopted environmental sustainability features in its operations.
